MOSCOW, Oct 28 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Moskvich car plant, formerly owned by Renault, plans to finish engineering an electric car and launch production by 2025, CEO Dmitry Pronin told channel Moskva 24 on Friday.

"We will and we already are engineering our own platform, our own car. We can say that this car will be developed from scratch and after 2024, in 2025, we plan to launch our own car, engineered by us, but only electric," Pronin said.

He also said that production of cars in general will start in 2022, and 600 vehicles, including 200 electric cars will be made at the end of 2022. In 2023, the company will produce 50,000 cars, including 10,000 electric cars.

He said that at the first stage the company will carry out semi knocked-down assembly with support of an Eastern company.
